The Revista ALCONPAT (RA) was first presented in the form of a project, during CONPAT 2003, done in Telchac, Yucatán, Mexico. It was an ambitious project that would require a multi-annual effort. It was until September of 2009, during CONPAT 2009, in Valparaíso, Chile, when it was presented to the superior council for the second time, with it being approved for its commencement during the following year. The formation of the Editorial Board, the portal of the journal and several administrative and technical procedures allow the RA to see the light of day for the first time on December 31st, 2010, with the release of Volume 1, Issue 1, 2011. The journal was inaugurated following strict quality parameters, that continue to this day, which include a strict peer review and the creation of a high-level founding editorial board with seven associated editors, an executive editor, and an editor in chief.

In 2015, during the publication of volume 5, RA was accepted in the Índice de Revistas Científicas y Tecnológicas del CONACYT, which boosted the RA towards higher standards such as entering prestigious index, the migration to the OJS platform, its publication in Spanish, Portuguese and English, DOI number, among others.

During CONPAT 2015 in Lisbon, the editorial board, due to the increase of commitments and responsibilities of the RA, incorporates three new associate editors and two new language editors. RA is also a journal of excellence in South America, where it is part of the index of journals such as CNPq of Brazil, and CONICIT of Argentina.
