Dr. Oladis Troconis de Rincón has worked since 1972 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Zulia (LUZ) where she was Director of the Center for Corrosion Studies (1978-2011) and currently she continues as an Advisor to it. She is a Chemical Engineer and has a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in the USA, she is a PhD in Fundamental and Applied Electrochemistry from the Universidad de los Andes in Venezuela and received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Zulia. She is accredited in the National Research Promotion Program at the highest level (Emeritus). Even though he has been developing research in different areas, especially in research applied to solving problems in the oil and petrochemical industry, his main areas of research are: Corrosion and its control, as well as the prevention of pathological problems in concrete structures. reinforced and metallic, Atmospheric Corrosion and Cathodic Protection. The Prof. Trocónis has also led different jobs for the industry related to the Diagnosis/Evaluation/Repair-Rehabilitation of reinforced concrete and metal structures (Bridge over Lake Maracaibo, Maracaibo University Hospital, PDVSA Docks, Refineries and Petrochemicals, Schools, churches, towers that transport electricity, gas, oil and water platforms, among others); She also teaches national and international courses, related to the subject of Pathological Problems in Civil Construction, not only in Reinforced Concrete structures but also in metal ones. She has published extensively in high-impact international journals, national and international conference proceedings, book chapters, books, review and broadcast articles. She was editor-in-chief of the Technical Journal of Engineering at LUZ and is a member of the scientific committees of indexed journals from the United States, Chile, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Venezuela. She has held various positions at NACE International, among which she stands out: Director "at large", Director of the Latin American Region, Director of the International area and currently heads the award sub-committee to choose the most outstanding Young Professor in the world ("Uhlig Award"). She has obtained several important awards and recognitions such as the FELLOW of NACE International and being an Armchair Member of the National Academy of Engineering and Habitat in Venezuela, among others. She is currently the Director of Education of the Latin American Association of Construction Pathology (ALCONPAT International). Founding Associate Editor of Revista Alconpat.
