Curriculum Vitae Summary 

Full Professor of Civil Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. Former President of the Portuguese Association of Structural Engineering (APEE), the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE) and the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE ). Co-author of more than 350 scientific publications and 14 engineering books with international editions. Consultant for major public works such as S. João Bridge (Portugal), Internacional Guadiana Bridge (Spain), Macau-Taipa Bridge (China), Vasco da Gama Bridge and Lezíria Bridge (Portugal). Received several international awards. Founding Associate Editor of Alconpat Journal.
